TENOME

I have just written about the glass  exhibition I have visited. Here is the photo of me behind  an art piece made by a young artist;

When I uploaded the photo as my profile photo on facebook, one of my ex-colleagues wrote a comment with sending this scene from the movie 'Pan's Labyrinth';

A few days later, a close friend of mine living in UK send me this picture of Brighton Art Fair Magazine;

So it was time to search for it now :)

Pan's Labyrinth; is a Spanish-Mexican dark-fantasy movie written and directed by Mexican Guillermo del Toro that was premiered in 2006 Cannes Film Festival.

The movie intertwines the real world with a mythical world, telling the story of Ofelia, who is actually Princess Moanna, the daughter of the king of the underworld who becomes blind by sunlight when she visits the human world. Visiting the human world also erases her memory and one night she finds herself in a labyrinth after following a stick insect that appears in her bedroom which she believes to be a fairy. During her travel in the labyrinth, she meets many strange and magical creatures . Pale Man, with eyes on his hands, is one of them; a child-eating faun (mythological half human-half goat creature). He guides Ofelia into the fantasy world.... For more you should watch the movie :)

The pale man's eyes on his hands is a feature shared by the Japanese mythological man-like creature,  the Tenome. The creature was illustrated in the first book of 18th century Japanese artist Toriyama Sekiens's series, Gazu Hyakki Yakö (The Illustrated Night Parade of A Hundred Demons).

It is enough blogging for tonight. I hope tomorrow the world will be a more peaceful place so we won't need to close our eyes to be able to continue our lives. Because it is actually happening right now...We, people won't see or don't want to see or can't stand what we see any more...

Goodmornoonevenight world...
